From July 9 to 12, the waters off Barcelona will once again set the stage for the latest edition of the Puig Vela Clàssica Regatta – one of the Mediterranean’s premier events for classic boats. Organized by Puig and Barcelona Royal Yacht Club, with the support of Barcelona City Council, the 18th edition will bring together some of the finest examples of 19th- and 20th-century naval architecture.
After a landmark 2024 edition, shaped by the synergy with the America’s Cup, this year’s regatta returns to its customary calendar. The event will feature four main categories based on the design, age, and size of participating vessels: Vintage Boats, Classic Boats, Modern Classic Boats and Big Boats.

Throughout its history, the Puig Vela Clàssica Regatta has attracted some hugely iconic boats, including Moonbeam III, which hosted the honeymoon of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco; Mariette, a centennial gem of the Atlantic; Islander, holder of the solo round-the-world sailing record; and Manitou, used by US President John F. Kennedy during his time in office.
The 18th Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona is an international event that forms part of the official calendar of the Spanish Royal Sailing Federation (RFEV) and counts towards the 3rd Championship of the International Mediterranean Committee (IMC), and towards the 14th Classic Mare Nostrum Trophy - Spanish Cup for Classic Boats.
